Herringbone Kitchen Backsplash Installation in Madrona, Seattle

We recently completed a custom herringbone kitchen backsplash installation in Madrona, one of Seattle’s most beautiful and historic neighborhoods. This project featured a classic white subway tile installed in a herringbone pattern, creating a timeless design that adds texture, movement, and a high-end appearance to the kitchen.

Unlike a standard straight-set backsplash, a herringbone pattern requires significantly more planning, precision, and cutting. Every tile must be carefully aligned to maintain consistent angles and clean lines throughout the entire installation. Even small layout errors become highly visible with this pattern, making experience and attention to detail essential for achieving a professional result.

One unique aspect of this project was the homeowner’s request to minimize dust and noise inside the home. To accommodate this, our team completed all tile cutting outside the house. This required additional setup time and extra material handling, but it allowed us to keep the kitchen clean and comfortable throughout the installation process. No indoor cutting meant virtually no dust and significantly reduced disruption for the homeowner.
